Summary of Activities

A. Non-Training Related

Prior to the actual implementation of the identified training and training-related activities of the project, the partners had conducted the following administrative meetings and workshops to brainstorm, discuss, and eventually map out the detailed plans on how to efficiently execute the project activities:

  1. Conducted high level meetings with project partners (TESDA Region IV), TESDA Cavite, NITVET, TWC, and CS Garment) to come up with detailed work plans for the identified project activities. The said meetings took place in June and July;
  2. Conducted in August a Job Analysis Workshop: Industrial Garment Manufacturing Trainer (IGMT) to update and validate the IGMT competencies and training modules;
  3. Conducted in August a stringent selection process for the 15 TTP scholars;
  4. Conducted an honest-to-goodness assessment of the scholars' competencies which became the basis for the list of training modules that would be offered. This activity happened in September; and,
  5. Finalized in October training modules and implementation dates.

B. Training Related

Trainers' Training Program (TTP)

After finalizing the dates and venues for the modularized training, the following were implemented between November and December:

  1. Trained a total of 16 TTP scholars/partners on "Pattern Making and Cutting Operations using CAD/CAM". Because of limited CAD/CAM software; the training was conducted in three batches; and,
  2. Conducted training on "Performing Quality Assurance for Incoming Materials". A total of 15 TTP scholars/partners were trained in 2 batches

Skills Training Program (STP)

Started in July the training for 15 STP scholars on "Garment Operations and Processes". Most of the selected scholars for this one-year program came from Region IV.

Set-up of Garment Academy in TESDA

  1. Made operational the CAD/CAM machine of TESDA Women's Center (TWC);
  2. Built up technical capabilities of TWC trainers. The two existing TWC trainers attended the TTP training (as scholars) conducted last November and December. TWC plans to offer upgrading CAD/CAM courses in the future; and,
  3. Came up with an updated and functional TTP and STP course outlines and modules. The said materials could be used in the garment academy that would be set up.
